I hesitantly stepped on a yoga mat in 2008 to help with anxiety and panic attacks. I was skeptical how the softness and ease of yoga would benefit me, BUT I experienced firsthand how this embodied practice could bring a physical sense of safety, trust (in one’s self) and connection. I was sold.
Yoga is not just about flexibility, balance and strength. While the physical postures of yoga may be what come to mind, yoga seeks to bring us back to the present moment. Grounding, interoception (interpreting internal bodily signals) and breathwork are all aspects of yoga and can be done while simply seated! Science tells us that yoga can be beneficial for depression, can aid in stress reduction as well as managing symptoms of PTSD.
At Living Well, it is our desire to invite healing and connection through yoga. Our instructors offer safety, agency and empowerment to students throughout class while encouraging an embodied living mindset both on and off the mat. You are just as much your body as you are your mind.
Through the practices of stillness and mindfulness found in yoga, it’s difficult to ruminate on the past, or worry about the future. Being in the body also means being in the moment.
We’d love to see you in class soon. Please feel free to reach out about private or semi-private sessions with myself or any of our yoga instructors. – Stefani Caballero, Director of Yoga
